KP trains its students in a "gentle art". The style is called Hakkoryu "Eighth Light School". This style came from Ryuho Okuyama, and was passed on by his son, who awarded the KP founder with Master level.
This soft style allows for a 'light' response to a small situation. It is taught in the traditional manner of the student learning the technique first from a kneeling position.
The basic elements include: escapes, small throws, joint-locks, pressure points, and light strikes.
